NICE TO MEET YOU
I started this blog for the solo traveler. The one who books a one-way ticket with a full backpack and half a plan. The one who eats alone at restaurants and pretends to check their phone, then ends up in a three-hour conversation with a stranger who changes how they see the world.
That was me. And for a while, Colombia was just another destination on the list.
Then I came back. And again. And again.. six times over three years, spending weeks at a time in Medellín, learning the streets of El Poblado and Laureles, drinking tinto in places that never made a TripAdvisor list. Somewhere between the first trip and the sixth, Colombia stopped being a destination and started being home.
And somewhere in there, I met Jessica. A Paisa woman from Medellín who helped me with my Spanish and taught me what this city actually feels like from the inside.
I’m not a digital nomad. I’m a Canadian insurance broker from Toronto, Ontario who kept getting pulled back to Colombia until life made the decision for me. Now Jessica and I are building something between two countries, two cultures, and two very different worlds. Through her I’ve eaten food I couldn’t have ordered, walked streets I wouldn’t have found, and understood a city I thought I already knew.
This blog started as a solo travel guide. It’s becoming something more honest than that.
If you’re planning a Colombia trip and want guides written by someone who actually knows the country, not just visited it, then you’re in the right place.
